Climate Action Planning - Microcredentials

Climate Action Planning

UBC Micro-certificate

Canada is not on track to meet its 2030 target of reducing GHG emissions by 40-45% per cent below 2005 levels, despite implementing several climate policies and initiatives. At the provincial level, British Columbia has set a target of a 40 per cent reduction below 2007 levels by 2030 and, while it has made progress, much more needs to be done to achieve long-term climate goals.

A key opportunity to achieving these time-sensitive targets is building the capacity of local governments, businesses and civil society to initiate climate action within their sphere of influence.

The UBC Micro-certificate in Climate Action Planning: Foundations, Finance and Implementation is a part-time online program that helps policy makers, planners and industry players gain the knowledge, skills and tools to put climate action planning into practice within organizations and communities.

Developed by a team of faculty and experts associated with UBC’s Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability, Sustainability Hub and Campus and Community Planning, this program is designed to create the climate champions that Canada and the world need.
