Our team has an extreme focus on our clients and delivering great service. We work hard in our shop and we are a pretty tight team. We need someone with the right character and personality to fit with our group. Someone who understands the nuances of a small firm and wants to participate in keeping the shop interesting and engaging. This is quite important to us. 

We have an immediate opportunity for an intermediate Landscape Architect to join our team.

Who we’re after: 

  • Exceptional technical knowledge and detail-orientated, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Proficient in project development, design development and construction documentation including, site design, planting design, site grading and construction detailing. 
  • Knowledgeable of landscape construction methods, materials, sustainable design practices and ensuring designs are executable and meet quality standards. 
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for developing creative solutions that are both environmentally sustainable and technically sound. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines (this is crucial). 
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, municipal authorities, and approving agencies while building strong relationships. 
  • Independent and proactive, demonstrating initiative and ownership of tasks. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to articulate design ideas and concepts clearly. 
  • A positive attitude with a growth-oriented mindset, eagerness to learn and improve. 
  • Outstanding client service cultivating and maintaining positive client relationships. 

You Will: 

  • Develop conceptual and schematic designs that integrate site context, site analysis, programmatic requirements, and sustainability principles. 
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand project requirements, goals, and constraints.  
  • Communicate design ideas through written and graphic media presentations. 
  • Deliver presentations to clients, and various groups; public speaking will be required. 
  • Lead design and project management on a diverse range of project types. 
  • Participate and/or lead coordination meetings with clients, sub-consultants, external project team members, and allied professionals.  
  • Prepare cost estimations, design development drawings, detailed construction drawings, tender and contract documents. 
  • Provide construction management and administration. 
  • Conduct on-site reviews, documenting construction progress and preparing inspection reports ensuring design integrity and project quality. 
  • Assist with preparation of landscape proposals and promotional materials. 
  • Support the office with day-to-day responsibilities including answering the phone, keeping the common areas clean, and small tasks. We are a small studio and as such we manage our office needs as a team. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program. 
  • Minimum +4 years of professional landscape design experience. 
  • Full Member in good standing with the Alberta Association of Landscape Architects (or equivalent, with Stamp is preferred but not required). 
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality design work; be able to provide a portfolio of work.  
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills. 
  • Strong plant knowledge in both native and non-native resilient plants that thrive our local climate. 
  • Experience in all aspects of project delivery, from concept to contract administration and post-construction. 
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with our preferred CADD software, Vectorworks, is a plus—but is a skill that can be easily taught. 
  • GIS experience would be an asset. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite, and Rhino. 
  • Valid driver’s license to conduct site reviews and attend client meetings.
