Our ideal candidate has a degree or diploma in Landscape Architecture or related discipline, along with at least three (3) years of office or field experience in private/public practice or construction.
This position will support our Landscape Architecture team and allied disciplines in the planning, design, and construction of a diverse range of open space projects at all stages and scales in Edmonton, Calgary and across Alberta and British Columbia. Projects range from neighbourhood renewals and regional trails and corridors to large public parks, campuses, multi-modal streetscapes, waterfronts, plazas and custom detailed design.

Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Landscape Architecture, Design or Technology (or related / transferable education experience such as Urban Design, Planning, Architecture, Environmental, Horticulture or GIS).
- Minimum three (3) years of professional office or field experience in a comparable consulting role, with preference given to candidates with more experience. Previous public, institutional or land-based work experience (such as site construction, land surveying, landscape maintenance) will also be considered.
- Registration or eligibility for membership with AALA, BCSLA or other Canadian landscape architecture association is desirable, but not required.
- A reliable vehicle and a valid Class 5 driver’s license (project-based mileage is compensated).
Desired Skills and Strengths
- Passionate about landscape architecture design, drafting and illustration, with the ability to work collaboratively with project teams as well as individually.
- Strong written, interpersonal and graphic presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with clients, architects, other consultants, contractors, and internal team members. Experience with proposal writing, public engagement, and hand graphics are considered strong assets.
- Superb time management skills, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and possess a high level of attention to detail and quality.
- High level of proficiency in AutoCAD, including the ability to set up and produce technical drawing sets in a shared network environment and in coordination with allied disciplines. Stormwater management experience (incl. the creation of digital surfaces in Civil 3D) is considered a strong asset.
- Proficient with software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and PDF editing software. Additional skills and experience in Sketchup, Lumion, Land F/X, ArcGIS or QGIS, as well as hand drawing skills, are desirable.
- Solid working knowledge of local plant species, soils, ecosystems, drawings, construction standards, and municipal and provincial approval processes is preferred. Relevant experience working with or for the City of Edmonton, City of Calgary, other Alberta municipalities, and Provincial departments are strong assets.
- Technical experience and expertise, for example in the preparation of conceptual and detailed design drawings (site plans, grading, planting, details, etc.), specifications, cost estimates, and tender/contract documents. A background in ecological restoration and naturalization is considered a strong asset.
- Construction administration experience for softscapes and hardscapes, including site progress reviews and the coordination of approvals with contractors and municipal authorities, is considered a strong asset.
