On April 18, 2024, Kate Haines, Superintendent, Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance (OSPG) led a webinar on the Professional Governance Act (PGA) and navigating practice areas. The OSPG is the centre of provincial expertise for the professional governance of regulatory bodies outside the health sector. Building on presentations from previous years, Kate Haines provided an update to BCSLA members and associates about the PGA. Learn more about how the OSPG is leading discussions with regulators about defining reserved practice areas, and what that means for you as a landscape architect when practice areas align, intersect and overlap with other professionals.

On April 20, 2024, Zach Druga, Government Affairs and Advocacy Manager, Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB), spoke about landscape architecture practice issues globally and in North America, drawing from the Global Job Task Analysis with the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA). Zach highlighted collaborative efforts in the US to define practice scope in legislation and discuss ICOR's work on regulating overlapping practices in architecture, engineering, interior design, landscape architecture, and surveying.

In May 2023 Paul DeGreeff, PGA-WG Chair and Jacqueline Lowe, PGA-WG Alternate provided a brief overview of the BCSLA’s original application to the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance (OSPG) for inclusion in the PGA and will summarize recent transition planning work of the PGA Working Group.
On October 13, 2022, Paul Craven, Superintendent of Professional Governance, spoke to BCSLA Members and Associates about the Professional Governance Act. The Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance (OSPG) is the centre of provincial expertise for the professional governance of regulatory bodies outside the health sector. We recommend that all BCSLA Members and Associates view the presentation. We are working with technicians to improve the video quality.
In the spring of 2021 the BCSLA delivered a series of online presentations to Members and Associates along with live question and answer sessions with the BCSLA Regulatory Review Task Force.
- In 2021, all members and associates were required to participate in a mandatory PGA webinar in May or June 2021, worth 10 credits. Members must log in to www,bcsla.org and report their attendance under “6. Special Projects”. Those Members and Interns who did not attend can view the slide deck and claim five CE credits.
